International Award Cerimony – III edition

The Economy and Society International Prize has been awarded for the third time on May 18, 2017 in Palazzo della Cancelleria on the occasion of Fondazione Centesimus Annus – Pro Pontifice’s International Conference held in Rome and in Vatican on May 18-20, 2017.

The winner is:

Markus Vogt for the book ““Prinzip Nachhaltigkeit: Ein Entwurf aus theologisch-ethischer Perspektive” (Munchen-2009, oeKom verlag, third ed. 2013).

The winners of the special section for works of journalism in the Social Doctrine of the Church are:

Dominique Greiner, for the blog: “La doctrine sociale sur le fil”, on the newspaper’s site “La Croix”

Burkhard Schäfers, for the radio program: “Oswald von Nell-Breuning – Was von der katholischen Soziallehre geblieben ist”, broadcast for the first time on Deutschlandradio Kultur/Religion  March 8th, 2015

The ceremony has been chaired by Secretary of Vatican State H.E. Card. Pietro Parolin.

After an introductory speech by Dr. Domingo Sugranyes Bickel, Chairman of the Foundation,

the session was held on the following schedule:

–        Laudatio of the winning works by His Eminence Card. Reinhard Marx, Archbishop of Munich and Freising, Chairman of the Jury

–        Reception speech by Markus Vogt

–        Key-note speech on Catholic Social Teaching in a Digital Age by Sr. Helen Alford OP, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum), Rome

–        Closing address by H.E. Card. Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State
