CURRENT ACTIVITIES OF FCAPP GROUPS IN SPAIN

Barcelona

The Group chaired by Ignasi García Clavel meets regularly every month and has included a number of new members and friends. With the actual assistance of Fr. Jesús Renau sj the group is presently discussing social aspects of the documents issued by the Synod on the Family.

Madrid

The Group convened by Alfonso Carcasona meets once a month with ecclesiastical assistant Rev. José Manuel Aparicio, professor at the Comillas University and parish priest at Tres Cantos near Madrid. The discussions are taking place currently around Pope Francis’ sentence in Evangelii Gaudium  ”Thou shalt not to an economy of exclusion and inequality –

such an economy kills”. The group has organized presentations from different perspectives and then tries to reflect on conclusions from each case; meetings have taken place with the people in charge of the Community of San Egidio in Madrid, with entrepreneur and past-president of Circulo de Empresarios Mrs. Mónica Oriol, and with Fr. Luis Lezama, a priest who created a succesful business with socially handicapped people.

Málaga

The Group convened by José Alba meets regularly with ecclesiastical assistant Fr. Fernando del Castillo, parish priest of San Miguel. The chosen subject are the economic and social aspects of the family, also in relation with the Synod documents. The group plans to hold a meeting in the near future on this subject with Cardinal Fernando Sebastián, a retired Archbishop who resides in Malaga and is actively involved in the Synod’s debates.

Valencia

The Group being convened by ecclesiastical assistant Fr. José Luis Sánchez, Vice-Rector of the Catholic University of S. Vicente Mártir, and by José Cosme recently met with the new Archbishop, Cardinal Cañizares, and plans to resume its activity with the preparation and attending the Foundation’s international conference.
